We are pleased to announce that our paper, “A Body-Scale Robotic Skin Using Distributed Multimodal Sensing Modules: Design, Evaluation, and Application” has been published in the IEEE Transactions on Robotics.
This study introduces a body-scale robotic skin that combines multimodal sensing modules with a multilayer fabric, leveraging super-resolution and tomographic mechanisms to cover large areas with few sensing elements. A convolutional neural network decodes rich spatiotemporal touch information, enabling reliable touch classification and demonstrating effective tactile communication on a robotic arm.
